What my arts award is aboyt: My arts Award challege is to set up a number of interviews with different students here in middlesbrough college. We will be asking the students a diferente set of questions about what they are doing here in the college, whether is filming, animation, photoshoping and etc.
We planned to to do the interviews as fast as we could with some questions that could give us the answers that we were looking for in a short amount of time.
What i think that went well in this project is that Me,Danny,Ryan and David worked verry well toguether, we got a long since day 1 and my job was to help edit and record the interviews while David was asking the questions to the students, with everyone that we interview was satisfied and didn't find any difficulties in any of the questions.
What i think that could be improved is that there was a member in our team that didnt put the same amount of effort that the rest of us did and sometimes because one member we all can lose, but even like that i dont like to blame other people for setbacks, and we lost a lot of time recording all the interviews again because we lost the footage.
Overall Im really happy with the end result of our Silver Arts Award film and i wouln't change anything.

Promotional arts award video
We have produced a short promotional video promoting the Arts award for media course and as a member os this team i have made the script and chose the questions that we asked the people that we interviewed because in this project i was in charge of script writing.
Feedback from others in the class is in the comments section at the end of this post.
In terms of what I learned from this project about scriptwriting and working with others:
What I learned
Was that script writing is not as easy as it looks
What I found easy
The questions to ask i thought were easy.
What was difficult
Writing the script like the way you are supposed
What I could have improved
The video, because the first video that we made we left inside the camera when we gave it back to the college and that footage was lost so we had to do everything again in a rush.
If I was to do it again, what would I do differently
I would make it a better plan before started actually carrying it out and doing it, because if we had a better planning i think it would look much better
Here in this screen shot you can see that David has commented on my video and gave his feedback and thoughts.

Middlesbrough college interviews
Me, David and Danny have interviewed some students from the media course but we left the footage on the camera and gave the camera back to the media course staff, so we had to film it all again, so thats what we done today, we have made new interviews with different students and we asked them some questions about they arts award and asked how is it going and how they feel about the project that they were doing.
How well did I get on with others in the team:
I got along very well with David,Dan, Ryan, because we are friends, so wasn't hard for us to work as a team because we understood and listened to each other
How did we have to change our job roles
We had problems with Ryan who was never there in class, so we had to dop him from the project. His job as editor was taken over by David.
How did we communicate
We were in the same class so was very easy for us to communicate with each other.
How could communication have been better?
Could been better if no one missed college days like it happened to our group, some of us werent in when the others were, so was kind of hard to communicate due for part of the group not been in when we planed and when we done the interviews there was also part of the group missing.
Here is a link to the finished video product:

The screenshot above shows the programme that we used to make the final changes in our promotional video, we used Adobe Premiere Pro
This is the actual promotional video completed after we edited all, and as you can clearly see the effects and jump cuts.

lego animation review.
In my lego animation i would definitely make some changes to it if i had to make it again, the first change that i would make it it would be the background that has whit margins around it that i have forgot to cut it out, and the camera its not well placed and i would make the animation a bit longer because it was to short and didn't really tell a story.
What i like about it
I like my animation for the simple fact that was the first time that i have ever tried to make something like this and i went for it and finished my whole project, and i like how even know that i changed my plan at the last minute ive still acomplished my assignment.
What i would of done differently
I have spend to much time planning this animation because i didn't really know what exactly that i wanted to do, so i kept changing my planing ideas and i lost a lot time doing that, so i didn't have much time to do the actual animation when i decided what i was going to do.

Review
I have shared this animation through putting it up on my blog and getting reviews from my peers. Those reviews can be found in comments here:
http://bragasilver.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/lego-animation.html#comment-form
I think i have achieved what i wanted because when first started making the animation i had no clue how to use the programme and now i feel much more confident in using the iStopMotion software and i know if I use this software in the future i will do a much better job with it and if i had to do it again i would make it better by making it longer and and making more movement with the characters and geting a better background for it.
I have learned how to position the camera for my istopmotion animation, and i didn't relise that it takes 12 shots to make one second of animation and my animation was just over 60 shots so for the time that the animations is made of it is a lot of shots just for 5seconds of animation, i didn't think that would be that much

Planning
For the supervised Arts Leadership project me and my team will be making a video that will be a short promotional piece for middlesbrough college where we will be interviewing students that were doing the arts award.
My contribution to this team will be the script writing and help editing the video ones is done, taking unwanted parts and ill be the one writing the questions that we going to be asking the students.
1. The project as given to us by the tutor
2. decide who would do what
We need to organise ourselves to work with those people we would get on best with and have similar interests in video
3. write questions to ask (my job)
I will need to write questions which will take a bit of thought and can not be answered with just one or two words. I will need to think of scripts that could be interesting!
4. book cameras
Cameras, tripods, batteries will need to be booked out in advance from the technicians office.
5. Arrange to interview people
I will need to make sure that it is ok for the students to be interviewed and the tutors do not mind them being taken out of lessons
6. Book room for the interviews
I will need to use a room in the college that is not needed by other students or staff for lessons and workshops
7.Film interview
Although I may not be operating the actual camera I will still need to be there to make sure everything is running properly and going according to plan
8. Edit interview
This will be David's responsibility although I still need to show a copy of the finished edited video
9. Upload Interview
10. Write report and evaluation
I will also need to make sure that I get feedback on my script from other people in the class
We are aiming for one week to prepare; one week to film and edit
There are no risk assessments needed for venues as we are filming on college premises and all risk assessment is covered by college health and safety policy.
In order to create this project we a going to need some pieces of hardware, software and equipment.

Lego animation characters/background used.
This is the lego characters that i have chose to use in my animation.
I have used 13 characters in total for this animation, and a cop and moto bike toys and all this characters and the toys i have used belong to my little brother Joseph =)
Then i have searched for clouds backgrounds and i have chosen the one that you can see in my animation, after i chose that background i have printed in A3 format so was big enough to get all the characters in that space that the background could cover it and the n i have chosen the programme called iStopMotion 3 to make the finished piece of my animation and that programme works by taking a lot of frames and then moving the characters around so their give the sensation that their a actually moving.
UNIT 2-ARTS-LEADERSHIP
The project we have agreed on as a small group is to make a short promotional video about people's views on the Arts award.
My group:
Danny-Camera
Ryan-Editor
David-Sound
Matheus-Script
In my group i will be in charge of the script and I will have the responsibility of telling a story in quick and clear way. The script must have the understanding of the structure, the show or film structure. The scriptwriter sometimes is also responsible for adapting a book into a film, but in my case i will have to write this script from scratch and come up with an idea that will work with what my groups wants to do and a script writer is also responsible for making significant changes to the script very often without losing the flow of the plot.
I would like to develop my scriptwriting and storyline skills working on a project that is a documentary based rather than an imaginary story.

film review
This is a review for the film club at Middlesborough college in february which we watched the movie called The Big Lebowski.
What is the genre for the film? Comedy/Parody
What is the age rating for the film? Why?
The age rating is 18 because of the strong language and the uses of drugs and also has a bit of nudity in the film.
How does the film tell its story?
I didn't really understand the film i thought was really confusing the bits that i saw.
What are the names of the main characters?
Did it keep your interest throughout?
Not really, i lost interest half way though the film, i thought was really boring most of the film so i didn't really fell like watching all of it , it didn't make much sense to me. I didn't really understand most of the jokes that they made in the film so it was a bit confusing for me.
I thought the camera work in the film was pretty bad because it kept changing from one actor to another quit fast and you couldn't really understand what was going on, so it made very confusing when they where talking.
I thought the acting was rubbish: I thought the dialogue was not realistic and the acting was unconvincing. I was left feeling not drawn into the film at all. The actors were really annoying and seemed to have habits and personalities that were quite irritating. This made me lose complete interest in watching the film.
The main actor ''The Dude'' i thought he was the most annoying character that i have ever seen in a film, he was so stupid but he was a bit funny sometimes though.
What were the best parts of the film? I can't remember the exact part, but there was some parts that I've see that made me laugh quite a bit when he is about to make the money exchange and jumps of the car i think it was funny, but this film didn't really catch my attention.
Do you think this film was a good choice for film club? No, it was really boring, not everyone was really paying attention, was a very long film.
It felt like the film was going in slow motion and never would end it and more of the film i watched more i wanted to go home.
Here is evidence of my being at this event with two videos of our tutor talking before the film started:

My finished Lego Animation
To make this animation i had to do a lot of planning and searching for ideas, as you can see in the posts bellow all my planning and different video ideas and also the material that i have used. The reason that i have used lego instead of using clay like i have wrote in some of my ideas is because clay makes a lot of mess and i dont really have a lot of patience on making stuff with clay so i went for the easier choice that was lego and i could easily get hold of some lego.
In order to make this animation i have used Legos and i have used the google search to find the background image and printed as a A3 and then the software that i have used for this animation was the iStopMotion that makes the frame animation the look that's moving , and then i had to add some sound effects so i have downloaded the sound effects from youtube and from this sound effects website that i have saved and then i used the garageband software to add the sound into the animation
this are the sound effects website that i have used in order to download the sound effects for my animation.

This is where one of the presenters sit for the radio show, its placed in the same room as the camera and they have this computer in the room so the reporter can easily use the internet and be aware of whats going on everywhere without any need to travel to do her show.
This is the desk that you always see on T.V that BBC Newcastle present they daily News that gives you the day-day information on events, weather and other thi ngs thats happening around the North East England area.
This is the recording studio and radio station for some of the north easts radio stations.
Research in job opportunities in media has been covered in much more depth in my separate blog which can be found at:
Ive learned a lot from my research, a lot of things that i had absolutely no clue and it helped me have an idea of what kind a job that i would like to get when i leave college, and with this research i know how much i would been working on that job and what kind of interests i would have to have. I have more of an idea of how to get employment in different parts of the media, what kind of jobs are available; what qualifications I would need.
Ive learned that in the presenters of a radio show they have a computer in the same room that they prenset so they dont really need to travel when presenting a show.
At the BBC Newcastle, there are many of opportunities of geting a job or learning more about the business with BBC Newcastle been as big that the company is there are a lot of job roles there such as camera-men/women, presenting, script writing, radio presenter, sound manager and many otheres.
